UH Hilo Astrophysics Club, Bayanihan Club
I am currently attending the second half of the two-year study in Erasmus Mundus Master Programme in Space Science and Technology (SpaceMaster) at Lulea University of Techonology, Sweden. The first half of the program was held at Julius Maximilian University of Wuerzburg, Germany.
I am in a science track that specializes in space plasma physics with emphasis on the solar wind interaction with the upper atmosphere of unmagnetized bodies. The scope of the master program includes spacecraft design, spacecraft electronics and instrumentation, space mission and control, orbit dynamics and attitude control, observational techniques and spacecraft environment and interactions.
I worked as a Student Assistant/Interpretive Guide at Onizuka Center for International Astronomy, Visitor Information Station (VIS) in Mauna Kea from 2010 to 2011. I interned as IR Focal Plane Assistant at Institute for Astronomy (IFA) in Spring 2010. I was then hired as a telescope operator at Array for Microwave Background Anisotropy (AMiBA) from 2011 to 2013 before I received a scholarship grant from Erasmus Mundus Master Programme of EU.
I was born and raised in Philippines. Before I moved to Hawaii for studies, I earned my B.S. in Secondary Education, major in Mathematics in 2006. I began volunteering at VIS in 2009 and received an award as 'Outstanding International Volunteer' in 2010. Back in Hawaii, I spent my spare time cruising around the Big Island with my family and friends, swimming at the beach in Kona side and playing my guitar or ukulele.
The opportunity of having a direct hands on experience with the best telescopes in the world while living in paradise.
Study hard to get good grades. Take advantage of the opportunities that UH Hilo and Mauna Kea observatories have oered you.
